[the wiccan way]
Wicca is a peaceful, nature-loving, meditative, inward-searching, mentally disciplined
way of life. It is a spiritual path combining both religion and magic.
My (very generalized) definition of magic is: raising energy (usually within a sacred
circle) and using the will to direct that energy toward a desired outcome.
For a long time, the media and Hollywood have (through lack of understanding) portrayed
the Wiccan religion as something that involves Satanism, dark magic, and hag-like women
creeping around casting hexes on (so-called) innocent people.
None of this is valid for those who follow the true Wiccan path.
We don't believe in Satan, so there is no worship of him (he was
a creation of the Christian faith).
We don't do dark magic because we know whatever we do
magically (bad or good) will come back to us threefold in this lifetime - which also
negates the hexing myth.
We celebrate eight Sabbats (based on the seasons of the year), and multiple Esbats,
which occur at the time of the Full Moon and New Moon (though Esbats are not limited to
full and new moons).
Because we believe nature is sacred, we do what we can to better this planet we call
home.
This is a very basic overview of the path I personally follow and what Wicca means to
me. To learn more about Wicca and Paganism, please see the links on the left.
Blessed be!
