Angst surrounds me
gathering me into her 
cloudy, uncomfortable embrace
as I hover precariously
mere inches above the 
roiling, rabid wake
of an ocean named
Despair
 
Depression introduces herself
Sanity's new found foe
The mistress of the floodgates
controlling the ebb 
and flow of currents
in that ocean called
Despair
 
Awareness becomes
a wretched, unwanted curse
Ignorance truly is bliss
Happiness, a drowned memory
submerged beneath dark waters
in an ocean named
Despair
 
Hope is a lost kitten
mewling on the rock strewn shores
of an island
rapidly diminishing
beneath the crashing waves
of an ocean called
Despair
